Marilena Papastavrou holds a degree in Environmental Sciences (BSc) from the University of the Aegean. Additionally, she has completed her postgraduate studies acquiring an MEng in Environmental Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in the United States of America. Since 2009 she has been working in the Public Sector, more specifically at the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment in the Division of protection and management of nature and biodiversity.

Chrystalla Papastavrou
Environmental Officer - National Contact Point for Climate Change
Chrystalla Papastavrou holds a degree in Environmental Engineering (BEng, MEng) from the Technical University of Crete. She has also completed her postgraduate studies from the Cyprus University of Technology acquiring an MSc in Energy Resource Management. Since 2009 she has been working in the Public Sector, initially at the Cyprus Institute of Energy, Energy Service and currently in the division of Climate Action at the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.

Maria Zomeni
Environmental Officer - Nature and Biodiversity Expert
Maria Zomeni holds a Ph.D. in Landscape Ecology and a B.Sc. in Biology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. To date she has participated in numerous research projects with focus on land-use/land-cover change detection and modelling, landscape pattern analysis and conservation of threatened species and habitats. She shares great interest in the study of spatial pattern effects on landscape functions and species persistence, focusing on habitat loss and fragmentation. She is particularly concerned with the implementation of the Natura 2000 network of protected areas, with emphasis on the investigation of its effectiveness towards biodiversity conservation

Panos Kakonitis
Environmental Officer - Climate Change Expert
Panos Kakonitis holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Department of Democritus University of Thrace (BSc, MEng) with postgraduate studies at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, in Environmental Design and Engineering and is certified as LEED Accredited Professional Building Design and Construction (LEED AP BD + C) since 2008. He has worked in Cyprus and abroad providing consultancy services on various issues of environmental character, climate change and has participated in a number of co-funded projects.

Maria Hadjidaniel
Environmental Officer - Communication Expert
Maria Hadjidaniel holds a MA in Marketing and a BA in Public Relations. She has extensive Marketing experience working from the position of Marketing Manager in the Automotive, Business Consulting Services and Retail industries. As a passionate environment lover, Maria came to the realisation during her time at the University of Nottingham that her true calling was to work in the Environment industry from the marketing point of view. And finally the time has come.
