The LIFE Cyclamen team organised a “LIFE Information Day – 2019 Call” in Ayia Napa on Monday, April 15th 2019, as a part of the Cyprus Capacity Building LIFE Programme. The purpose of the event was to inform any potential beneficiaries of the LIFE Programme 2019 Call.
During the event, the two Sub-Programmes and their thematic priorities were described based on the Multiannual Action Programme for 2018-2020. In addition, participants were informed of the different services the National Contact Point (NCP) offers to applicants, as well as to ongoing or past projects. Useful hints and tips were given regarding capturing and maturing an idea, as well as on writing a successful LIFE Proposal.
During this Info Day we had the pleasure of having with us a guest speaker. Mr. Louis Hadjioannou, from Enalia Physis Environmental Research Centre (NGO), presented the RELIONMED-LIFE project. Enalia Physis is part of the consortium of this project, which aims to make Cyprus the first line of defense against the invasion of the lionfish in the Mediterranean. The overall objective of the project is to develop the necessary capacity and mechanisms in Cyprus so the country can act promptly and effectively against the lionfish invasion and other invasive species from the Red Sea; demonstrate the effectiveness of a range of lionfish invasion prevention measures and build capacity and knowledge, which can be transferred and replicated by other countries, so they can prevent lionfish establishing in their waters.
